Hopes were raised of a possible Steven Gerrard appearance here in Singapore where the team were due to play a Friendly Match against the Singapore Lions National Team tomorrow at the National Stadium , after news of him being cleared of any wrongdoing in court started to spread through Liverpool Fans here in Singapore . But while the Reds Fans in Singapore were hoping that Steven Gerrard will still be able to make a surprise appearance here when the team take onto the field tomorrow night , the man himself surprised everyone by staying back home , played in a Friendly Match against Tranmere Rovers and even scored a goal from 25 Yards in his ' Debut ' immediately after the week long court case which ended only yesterday .
Just hours after being cleared of affray, Steven Gerrard returned to action with a goal for Liverpool in a friendly match played on Friday.
According to liverpoolfc.tv, the Liverpool captain scored from 25 yards for the Reds' first equaliser and played for 64 minutes before being substituted in the Pre-Season Merseyside Derby against Tranmere Rovers last night .
Tranmere Rovers , who are now managed by former Reds John Barnes and Jason McAteer, gave the Liverpool reserves a tough time at Prenton Park. Liverpool fell behind yet again and needed an injury-time penalty by Adam Hammill to pull Liverpool back to 2-2.
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez who is touring with the main squad in Singapore here , was relieved that the midfielder was cleared of all charges.
